Westchester County's Source for Home Energy
Assessments and Energy-Efficient Home Improvements
When most people think of ways to go green, their minds immediately jump to
solar panels and wind turbines. However, it's almost always more cost
effective both environmentally and financially to first reduce the amount of
energy you use.
If you're thinking about remodeling your home, or if
you just want to find ways to reduce your energy
consumption, one of our comprehensive home energy
audits is a great way to get started. We use
only the most cutting-edge equipment and practices
to trace air leaks, find problems with insulation,
and measure the current efficiency of your existing
heating and cooling systems.
Our Full Home Energy Audit Package
Our complete home energy audit includes the following tests
(when applicable):
- Blower Door Test: this
is one of the most important tests a homeowner can conduct on his
home when trying to find ways to reduce energy consumption.
Heat flows out of the home (primarily) in two ways: 1) conduction
through the walls and windows, and 2) convection via air
infiltration / exfiltration (i.e. air leakage). In many
homes, air leakage can account for the bulk of its heat loss, and
in most cases, these problems can be quite easily repaired.
This test helps trace the source of the air leaks in your home so
that the work scope for air sealing may be determined.
- Heating / Cooling
System Efficiency Tests: We analyze the current combustion
and distribution efficiencies of your appliances in order
to determine whether modification or replacement is cost
effective.

- Thermal Imaging Walkthrough
(in conjunction with Blower Door Test)
- Computer Modeling of your home.
This is used to help calculate building airflow standards to give
context to the results from the blower door test.
The computer model may also be used later
on to calculate room by room heating and cooling
loads for your home (Manual J) in order to
optimally match a replacement heating and / or
cooling system.
